Boxscore

RUSTON, La. -- The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (18-11; 10-5 WAC) finished the Idaho Vandals (4-23; 1-14 WAC) at senior night at the Thomas Assembly Center by a final score of 74-49 in front of a crowd of 2,815.

?I?m really happy,? head coach Keith Richard said. ?A lot of good things happened tonight in our final home game. (Senior point guard Daevon Haskins) has worked extremely hard in his whole career. (Senior forward Michael Wilds) was a big surprise for us this year and did some good things. And, of course (senior guard Corey Dean) breaking into the 1,000 Point Club here at Tech. There wasn?t a better way for him to get it than to be at home in front of his family and fans.?

The Bulldogs took an early lead and never looked back and would be up by as many as 24 points in the first half with 3:10 on the clock at 36-12. The Bulldogs held off a small Vandal run and took a 38-19 lead into the half time locker room.

The Vandals would cut into the lead in the second to as little as 13 points with 7:44 left to play, but Tech would hold on for the remainder of the ball game and win their tenth conference game of the season and improve to 10-2 at home for the year.

?Tonight, I thought at times we were excellent on defense,? Richard said. ?Unbelievable defense for the most post, but at times we were sloppy; almost to the point that we let them back into the game. Some of that can be credited to a lack of concentration. And since we?re not the best shooting team, we have to play great defense for 40 minutes.?

Junior forward Paul Millsap retook the NCAA rebounding lead with his 20 point, 18 rebound performance to help the Bulldogs on to victory. Dean finished with 22 points to tie his season high point total and propel him into the 1,000 Point Club at Louisiana Tech.

Haskins added six points and five assists in his final regular season home game as a Bulldogs, while Wilds finished with three points and two steals.

Idaho was led by guard Keoni Watson with 17 points and five rebounds.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday night against the Hawaii Warriors in Honolulu, Hawaii with tip off set for 11:05 p.m.
