Boxscore
RUSTON ? Krissi Oliver tossed a three-hitter as Louisiana Tech downed Southeastern Louisiana 9-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Tech took advantage of four Lady Lions errors to score six unearned runs in the victory as the Lady Techsters (10-23) improved to 41-10 all-time against Southeastern Louisiana.
Tech scored four runs in the second inning and five more in the fifth as the game was called due to the eight-run rule.
?I?m proud of the team for staying disciplined at the plate,? said Tech head coach Sarah Dawson. ?We hit the ball on the ground and had some hard line drives. We?ve been talking in practice about pitch selection and working the counts in our favor. We did a good job of that today.?
Rochelle Sandberg and Jessica Elson led Tech?s 10-hit attack with a pair of safeties while Sandberg and Carly White each drove in two runs apiece.
Oliver (4-8) was masterful on the mound, allowing only three hits and one unearned run in 5.0 innings of work while striking out three Southeastern Louisiana batters.
?She?s been doing a much better job,? said Dawson of her freshman hurler. ?We?ve always praised her for her ability to learn from her successes and mistakes. She just continues to improve.?
Tech returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. when the Techsters host Utah State at 6 p.m. in Western Athletic Conference action. The Lady Techsters and Lady Aggies will finish up the three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m.
