COLLEGE STATION, Texas ? When it rains, it pours.

Saturday night at Kyle Field, it did both.

Louisiana Tech waited out a two hour weather delay due to thunderstorms in the area and then watched Texas A&M score 35 unanswered points to defeat the Bulldogs 45-14 before 68,563 fans at Kyle Field.

Early on, Tech (1-2) appeared to be the team that was going to handle the 120 minute delay the best as head coach Jack Bicknell?s Bulldogs came out and took an early 7-0 lead after one quarter compliments of Patrick Jackson?s 24-yard scoring run.

However, the Aggies (4-0) scored 14 points in the second quarter and 21 more in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

?Honestly, I don?t know how this game got away from us,? Bicknell said. ?I felt like we played extremely well defensively in the first half and at halftime I told the guys that it was our game to have.

?Texas A&M hit us with that long play action pass to start the third quarter and then we made some bad penalties that hurt and it just got away. I honestly don?t know how.?

Despite trailing 14-7 at the half, the Bulldog defensive unit held the Aggies to only 107 total yards of offense but Texas A&M scored on two short scoring drives, one covering 31 yards and the other covering 53 yards.

After the Aggies built a 28-7 lead with nine minutes to play in the third quarter, Tech appeared to be ready to reclaim the momentum as a 53-yard pass play from Zac Champion to freshman tight end Dennis Morris put the Bulldogs inside the A&M five yard line.

However, on third down and goal from the one ? one play after Champion appeared to have scored on a quarterback sneak but was ruled down ? Tech fumbled the snap from center and the Aggies recovered on the Bulldog one.

?I couldn?t believe it wasn?t a touchdown,? Champion said. ?We only needed half a yard and we got a great push. That hurt us but bottom line is we didn?t make enough plays. I missed on some plays early in the game.?

Six plays and 99 yards later, A&M put the finishing touches on a 99-yard scoring drive and a 35-7 lead.

Tech added its lone second half touchdown on a 20-yard pass from Champion to Josh Wheeler in the fourth quarter and then A&M finished out the scoring on a 35-yard touchdown run by Jamie McCoy on the last play of the game.

Champion finished the night 13-of-31 for 229 yards and one touchdown while Jackson led Tech?s ground game with 81 yards on 21 carries. Morris led the Tech receivers with a career-high two receptions for 103 yards.

Quin Harris (eight tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery) and Josh Muse (seven tackles, two tackles for loss) led the Bulldogs defense.

Tech returns to action next Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Clemson for a 6 p.m. CST kick.
