BOISE, Idaho -- After a 2-0 start in conference play, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (4-11; 2-1 WAC) lost to the home perfect Boise State Broncos (8-6; 2-1 WAC) 82-56 Thursday in the Taco Bell Arena on the campus of Boise State.

?We just couldn?t get it done tonight,? Tech head coach Keith Richard said. ?They hit some long threes in the first half tonight, and defensively, we needed to guard them better than we did. Boise was a very good team tonight.?

The Broncos scored first in on a long three-pointer from senior Coby Karl to put Boise ahead 3-0 with 18:14 on the clock. Senior Chad McKenzie answered for the Bulldogs on the ensuring possession to cut the lead to 3-2. After another Boise basket, senior Harry Disy scored his first points of the night for a 5-4 score.

After a 4-0 Bronco run, McKenzie converted on a pair of free throws after a technical from junior Matt Nelson to cut the lead to 9-6 with 15:09 left in the first half. Boise followed with an 13-6 run over the next five minutes before senior Trey McDowell hit his first three of the night to cut the lead to 22-15 with 9:24 on the clock.

After going down as many as 40-25 at the 3:14 mark, the Bulldogs pawed their way back up for the remainder of the period and trailed only 43-36 going into the halftime locker room. McDowell finished with 12 first half points for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs, however, could not come any closer for the remainder of the night and lost 82-56.

?It was a tough night,? Richard said. ?We knew they were going to be a tough team to beat at home.?

McKenzie picked up a double-double to lead the Bulldogs with 17 points and 10 boards, while McDowell finished with 14. The Broncos were led by Karl with 28.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. CST against the Utah State Aggies.
