Volleyball to Take on No. 11 HawaiiHONOLULU, Hawaii -- Louisiana Tech?s volleyball squad (6-19; 1-11 WAC) will begin a long road-trip Sunday, Oct. 28, at 9 p.m. at Hawaii (17-4; 11-0 WAC) in Western Athletic Conference action.
The Techsters and the Waihine faced off this season already with Tech storming out of the gate to take game one 30-23 thanks to a .275 hitting percentage and tallying a total of eight blocks in the first game alone. The Techsters finished with 14 total blocks in the four-game loss.
Sophomore
Samantha Crowder finished the night with nine kills, two blocks and hit .368 for the match, while freshman
Kara Jones had a career night with eight kills and 4.5 total blocks. Both senior
Shannon Phillips and sophomore
KC Clayton finished with eight kills apiece. Senior
Jill Walker finished the night with 31 assists.
Most recently, the Techsters dropped a close match to Nevada by scores of 21-30, 29-31 and 24-30. Phillips led Tech with 16 kills and nine digs, while junior
Brittney Nakamura tallied 15 digs for the Techsters. Freshman
Taylor Fritz made her second consecutive start and finished with 10 digs. Senior
Kristen Fairbanks finished the night with eight kills and digs.
Tech will remain on the road for the following week and will play both Boise State and Idaho.
