Harvey Fires 66 in Second Round of Jaguar IntercollegiateMOBILE ?
Matthew Harvey shot a career-low 66 in the second round of the Jaguar Intercollegiate Monday at Azalea City Golf Course to lead Louisiana Tech to a tie for fourth place after 36 holes.
Harvey, who opened the tournament with a one-under-par 71, came back during the afternoon round and fired a six-under-par 66, tied for the third lowest round in Tech golf history.
?He started off with a 71 and then caught fire in the second round,? said Tech head coach Jean Hall. ?Through the first seven holes (of the second round) he was five under par. He finished with the 66, which is a really, really good score.?
As a team, Tech finished with a four-under-par (572) which ties them with Miami (Ohio) for fourth place in the 12-team event, trailing only Middle Tennessee (542), South Alabama (555) and Kennesaw State (560).
?We played better as a team,? Hall said. ?We are playing smarter. I really don?t have any complaints, we just need to make sure we finish strong. We really haven?t had any practice time, and they?ve responded pretty well. I?m anxious to see how they respond today.?
Amrith de Soysa shot a two-over-par 146 followed by
Dustin Baker (149),
Corey Bartlett (149),
Clinton Shepard (150), and
Chad Bailey (153).
The tournament concludes with Tuesday morning?s final round.
