Unbeaten Bulldogs and Trojans Battle in Little Rock

Nov. 21, 2008

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A pair of unbeaten teams clash Saturday night in the Jack Stephens Center with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (2-0) travel north to face off with the UALR Trojans (2-0) Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m.

"This is going to be another test for our guys," Tech head coach Kerry Rupp said. "We're looking forward to a good contest. We're continuing to work hard as a team to make ourselves better. The guys are excited, and we as a staff are excited about this weekend. It will be nice when we get back home again, but for now, we're going to keep moving forward."

Both the Bulldogs and Trojans are coming off close wins in their last respective games; Tech needed overtime to beat Grambling State 80-74, while the Trojans had a one-point victory over Pepperdine on the road 66-65. Junior Kyle Gibson scored 22 points in his season debut for the Bulldogs.

Tuesday, Tech put together a 12-1 run over the first four minutes in overtime to help secure victory over GSU. The Bulldogs have not started the season 2-0 since the 1998-99 season.

Gibson's 22.0 points per game leads the Bulldogs, while junior Jamel Guyton is not far behind at 20.5. A total of four Bulldogs are averaging double-figures through two games with juniors Kenneth Cooper at 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds and Magnum Roll at 10.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

The Trojans are led by Matt Mouzy, who is averaging 15.5 points per game.

Last season, UALR bested Tech by a final score of 63-49. The Trojans return all five starters from last year's team.

Tech already has faced off with a Sunbelt team this season beating UL-Lafayette 61-59 in the Cajundome.

Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live by KPCH 99.3 FM in Ruston and Fox 92.7 FM in Farmerville. The game will also be streamed live across the internet at www.thepeach993.com.
