ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Louisiana Tech (2-4) dropped its fourth straight game Saturday afternoon in the 7th and 8th place game against Alaska-Anchorage (1-5) by a final score of 62-57 on the last day of the 2008 Great Alaska Shootout.
The Bulldogs took a 30-29 lead into the halftime after shooting 9-27 from the field for 33 percent. In the first half alone, junior Kenneth Cooper scored 13 points for the Bulldogs on 4-6 shooting.
In the second half, however, Cooper was only able to get two points after the Seawolves began defending him closer and making Tech shoot more outside shots. The UAA plan worked, and the Seawolves outscored the Bulldogs 33-27 in the second half.
Tech was unable to pull away at any point in the second half of play and would not have the lead in the last 10 minutes of the ballgame.
Junior Kyle Gibson led Tech's scorers with 17 points, while Cooper finished the game with 15 points. Junior Magnum Rolle finished with 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Alaska-Anchorage was led in scoring by Kenny Barker, who finished with 23 points to lead all scorers in the ballgame.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, Dec. 6, for their 2008-09 season home opener in a return game with Grambling State. The game is set to tip off at 8 p.m. CST in the Thomas Assembly Center.
