DENVER - Louisiana Tech's Ryan Robertson and Idaho's Kelly Nakashima have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for March 10-16.
Robertson, a junior from Durban, South Africa (Thomas Moore College), finished in a tie for third place at the Louisiana Classic in Lafayette, La., March 10-11. It was his best finish of the season after putting three rounds together of par or better.
Robertson shot a 1-under 215 (72-72-71) in helping to lead the Bulldogs to a sixth place team finish in the tournament.
Nakashima, a senior from Wailuku, Hawaii (Baldwin HS), tied for eighth at the UNLV Spring Invitational in Boulder City, Nev., March 10-12. Her finish was the best among the 15 WAC golfers from three teams competing in the 18-team tournament.
Nakashima opened the tournament with a season-best 68 and was tied for the lead after the second round. She ended up with a 2-under par 214 (68-70-76) as Idaho finished in ninth place as a team.
The other men's nominations were Boise State senior Troy Merritt, Nevada sophomore Ryan Hallisey and New Mexico State junior Travis Reid.
The other women's nominations were Boise State sophomore Minhee Park and Nevada junior Melanie De Leon.
