TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Louisiana Tech's outdoor track and field team will take to the track at the prestigious Snowbird Invitational for its season opener on the campus of Florida State this weekend.
"This is a great opportunity to go on a long trip for our team," Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. "We're always protecting the academic integrity of our team. We're excited to see if we can continue the success of the indoor season. It's a long season so we might try to run the kids at different positions this weekend than they are normally accustomed to."
The Techsters captured their third title in four years two weeks ago at the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at Boise State. The Techsters turned out a 106-point performance on the final day to best Hawaii by one point.
Last weekend, senior Nadia Alexander and junior Michael Coleman competed at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., in shot put and the 60-meter dash, respectively. Both finished in the top 20 in their sports.
