Madison, Miss. - Junior Amrith de Soysa bounced back from a few disappointing performances to lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in day No. 1 of the Bank of America Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss at Reunion Golf Country Club.
de Soysa shot two-under-par 142 (70-72) in the opening two rounds played Monday to tie for 15th in the individual standings while also leading the Bulldogs to ninth place in the 15-team tournament.
Senior Chad Bailey had his best performance of the spring in the first two rounds as the Ruston native shot 72-73 for a one-over-par 145 as he currently sits in a tie for 23rd place.
After firing a four-over-par 76 in his first round, junior Ryan Robertson shot a two-under-par 70 on the final 18 holes of Monday's competition. He is tied for 26th with a two-round total of 146.
Tech's top two golfers statistically heading into the tournament both had disappointing rounds as Matthew Harvey and Corey Bartlett both struggled.
Bartlett is in a tie for 52nd place with a two round total of 151 (76-75) while Harvey is in a tie for 62nd with a two round total of 153 (76-77).
The 54-hole tournament ends Tuesday with the final round starting at 8:30 a.m.
As a team, Tech is tied for ninth place with North Carolina-Greensboro with a total of 584. Tennessee-Chattanooga and LSU are tied for the team lead with 563.
