RUSTON - Louisiana Tech golf signee Cody Santone has had a productive senior season at Parkway High School.
Santone, the son of Brian and Diane Santone, captured the 2008 Louisiana Class 4A state title a few weeks ago shooting 68 and 73 to earn the prestigious honor while also leading his Parkway team to the team title.
However, the 18-year-old wasn't done.
Santone followed that up by capturing the 2008 Louisiana High School Tournament of Champions title with an impressive round of three-under-par at Tamahka Trails in Marksville, besting 34 of the top golfers in the state.
The Tournament of Champions pits the top five finishers in the state competition from each of the seven classifications against one another as Santone won the event by three strokes.
"Cody is a proven winner," said Tech head coach Jean Hall. "He won the 2006 state junior amateur title. He won the 2008 state Class 4A title. He won the 2008 Louisiana Tournament of Champions title. He's been very productive winning throughout the state.
"He is also an outstanding student with a 32 ACT score and a Presidential Scholarship to Louisiana Tech. I think he will be able to help our program immediately."
Santone signed with the Bulldogs in the fall and will join a Tech golf team that lost only two seniors in Chad Bailey and Dustin Baker.
