RUSTON - Louisiana Tech sophomore Matthew Harvey earned his second straight all-state award as he was voted first team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Harvey, who was also named first team all-Western Athletic Conference this season, led the Bulldogs this season, medaling in six of his tournaments.
He joins New Orleans' Jose Toledo, McNeese State's Sigmundur Masson, Louisiana-Monroe's David McKendrick and UL-Lafayette's Michael Smith on the five-man first team.
The highlight of Harvey's sophomore season came when the Georgetown, Texas native won the 2007 Squire Creek Invitational, firing a final round 64 to claim his first collegiate title. The 64 was also the second lowest round in Bulldog golf history.
Harvey also recorded top 20 finishes at the Scenic City Invitational (T17th), the Jaguar Intercollegiate (T6th), the Sam Hall Intercollegiate (T12th), the Louisiana Classics (T9th), and the First Tee Intercollegiate (T3rd).
His 73.13 scoring average was the lowest by a Tech golfer in more than 15 years.
