RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head coach Derek Dooley had a clear message forhis football team following Tuesday afternoon's two-hour workout at Joe Aillet Stadium.
With his team huddled up around him, Dooley preached staying disciplined and learning how to push through the pain.
"This is our eleventh practice and there are about 12,000 college football players who are sore, hurting and tired," Dooley said. "This question is who is going to be able to push through it and improve. What fatigue does is challenge your discipline. WE had a lot of mental errors and tired mistakes today.
"Our team has to realize that there are consequences to it. It's not just a play in practice. We pride ourselves in trying to develop a disciplined team and this is when you do it, when you are tired. It's easy to do when you are fresh."
As Tech continues its second week of fall practice, the Bulldogs worked on an array of areas during Tuesday's session.
"Today we more of a move-the-field script," Dooley said. "It was very situational; from coming out on the minus one to moving all the way down the field for a two-point play."
The Bulldogs are set for a walk-thru Wednesday morning before returning to Joe Aillet Stadium in the evening for a intra-squad scrimmage.
"Tomorrow we will have our second scrimmage," Dooley said. "It will be a full-blown scrimmage, and we will see how it goes."
All Louisiana Tech practices and scrimmages are closed to the general public.
Dooley also noted one position change as sophomore Clayton Chambers has been moved from tight end to offensive line.
