MOBILE, Ala. -- Junior Corey Bartlett fired a second round three-under-par 69 to lead Louisiana Tech in the first day of the Palmer Toyota Fall Intercollegiate at Azalea City Golf Club hosted by South Alabama.
Bartlett's two-round first day total of one-under-par 143 tied him for 15th in the individual standings while the Bulldogs as a team sit in eighth-place at the 13-team tournament, but just three strokes out of fourth place.
South Alabama leads the event after Monday's first two rounds as the Jaguars shot a team total of 552 followed by Austin Peay (561), South Florida (569), New Orleans (574), Belmont (574), Louisiana Monroe (575), Kennesaw State (576), LA Tech (577), West Florida (583), Liberty (586), Troy (592), Nicholls State (604) and Tennessee State (605).
In addition to Bartlett's impressive day, Tech was paced by Amrith de Soysa (72-73=145, T27th), Matthew Harvey (73-73=146, T34th), Cody Santone (72-75=147, T38th), Patrick Blunt (73-74=147, T38th) and Clinton Shepard (76-72=148, T44th).
South Alabama's Daniel Burns leads the individual competition through two rounds with a total of 10-under-par 134.
