Watch Basketball Bonanza Live for FREE
RUSTON - Although both teams are four days into fall workouts, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will unveil their respective squads Tuesday night during the Basketball Bonanza Meet-N-Greet at 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The event is free and open to the public. The event will also be streamed for free over the LA Tech All-Access package on www.latechsports.com.
The evening will start at 6:15 p.m. with the celebrity media basketball game featuring 17 of the area's self-proclaimed media "athletes" such as Sean Fox and Nick White of Fox and Company, Neema Yazdima and Joaquin Sanchez from the Monroe TV market and Ethan Conley and Jason Pugh from the Monroe News-Star and Shreveport Times.
The two teams will be coached by legendary north Louisiana media members Jimmy Watson of the Shreveport Times and Buddy Davis of the Ruston Daily Leader.
Following the entertaining display of basketball ability, the real teams will take the floor as head coach Kerry Rupp's Bulldogs and Teresa Weatherspoon's Lady Techsters are introduced to the crowd.
The evening will also consist of a dunk contest featuring Olu Ashaolu, Magnum Rolle and Darius Redding and a three-point shooting contest featuring Jasmine Bendolph, Brietta Thomas, Tiawana Pringle and Martina Holloway. Each competitor will preselect a student organization that they will represent and the winning organization will win a prize.
Selected members of various student organizations will then get involved in the festivities as they will team up with members of the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters for a skills competition.
Following the competitions, the Lady Techsters and Bulldogs will then each hold an 8-minute intra-squad scrimmage as fans will get their first live look at the two teams in action.
The event will consist of performances and appearances by the Hoop Troop, Tech cheerleaders, Regal Blues, Champ and Tech XX. A moonwalk will also be set up on the concourse level for children.
The night will end with an autograph session by both teams. Admission is free and Aramark will be providing free popcorn and drinks.
Season tickets will also be sold at the event. Tech fans can also purchase season tickets for the Bulldogs and the Lady Techsters by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com, www.latechsports.com or by calling 318-257-3631.
