Tech Drops First Conference Road Match of Season

Oct. 8, 2009

Final Stats

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Louisiana Tech volleyball team dropped their first conference road match of the season in straight sets to Idaho (7-9, 3-1 WAC) Thursday night in front of 620 fans at Idaho's Memorial Gym. Set scores were 25-22, 25-15 and 25-17.

The Techsters (12-9, 2-3 WAC) struggled to get anything going offensively the entire night due in large part to Idaho's defense as the Vandals entered the match ranked number one in the entire country in blocks.

Louisiana Tech battled throughout the entire first set, trailing by no more than four the entire set. However, the Techsters were never able to gain a lead in the set either and the Vandals would eventually earn a 25-22 set win.

The second set saw eight tie scores and four lead changes, but with the Vandals leading 15-13 in the set Idaho would use a 10-3 run to win the set 25-15 over the Techsters.

Tech seemed to be out of gas in the third set. With the score knotted at 4-4 in the beginning of the set, Idaho would begin to inch away from the Techsters and put the set out of reach and win 25-17 and the match.

The Techsters were led in the match by sophomore Nataliya Panova who recorded eight kills and seven digs in the match. Libero Lori Hunsucker registered her second straight game with double-digit digs, totaling 14 to lead Tech.

The Techsters will remain on the road this weekend as the team travels to Las Cruces, N.M. for another WAC match vs. New Mexico State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. New Mexico State won the first meeting between the two teams this season 3-1.
