RUSTON, La. - Senior Kyle Gibson led all scorers with 23 points as Louisiana Tech won its exhibition game 91-54 over Lincoln (Mo.) Saturday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The Los Angeles native was 4-of-7 from three-point range and 9-of-11 from the foul line. He also had three steals and three assists with no turnovers.
Three other Bulldogs joined Gibson in double figures. Senior Magnum Rolle had 15 points and eight rebounds. Senior Jamel Guyton and sophomore Olu Ashaolu each had 10 points.
Tech opened the contest with a 16-2 lead after Ashaolu's fast break dunk. The lead was built to 35-15 after two Yonas Berhe free throws with 3:50 left in the half. Tech went into the half with a 43-22 lead and getting half of those points off of turnovers (21).
The Bulldogs continued to use defense to set up opportunities in the second half and ended with 38 points off of 25 Blue Tiger turnovers. Tech turned the ball over 13 times and had 16 steals.
Guyton had one of his five steals in the game with 12:50 remaining in the contest and it led to a one-handed windmill dunk by freshman Darius Redding.
Freshman Justin Rake nailed back-to-back three-point shots late in the second half. The biggest lead of the game came with 4:26 remaining as David Jackson drained a three pointer as part of a seven-point night for the senior.
The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Blue Tigers 47-33 including 17 offensive boards. All 12 players that suited up for LA Tech played and had at least one rebound. All but one player scored.
Lincoln was held to 35-percent scoring and was led by Ryan Spearman with 16 points and Darrius Gaters with 10.
The Bulldogs open the regular season on Nov. 14 at UT - Pan American at 1 p.m.
