Louisiana Tech Plays Final Game in 2009 at Houston

Louisiana Tech competes in its final game in 2009 when it plays at Houston on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs are 11-2 after beating Texas-Pan American for the second time this season 81-60. Senior Magnum Rolle tied for a team-high 16 points and came up big defensively, tying a career high with six blocks. Rolle and the Bulldogs turned up the defensive intensity in the second half, holding UTPA to 38 percent shooting for the game.

Bulldogs senior Kyle Gibson continues to rank among the nations' best. He ranks second in the NCAA in free throws made with 95 and 10th in free throw percentage at 88.8. He also leads the Western Athletic Conference and ranks 16th in the NCAA in scoring.

The Bulldogs will need another strong defensive effort as the Cougars (7-3) are averaging 85.5 points per game and boast the nations leading scorer in Aubrey Coleman. The senior guard is averaging 27.4 points while playing 36.5 minutes per game. UH is coming off a 105-81 win over TCU and have won five of their past six games.

Houston leads the overall series 2-0 with the last meeting coming in 1984 in the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional. It was a 77-69 win over Karl Malone and Co. in Memphis, Tenn.
