Louisiana Tech will hold its annual T-Day Spring Game Saturday (April 11) at 1 p.m. at Joe Aillet Stadium. The game is open and free of charge to everyone. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.
In conjunction with the event, the Louisiana Tech Athletic Department asked the local media for their expert opinions on the outcome of the game ... and here they are.

I like the Red Team (sorry Conroy). I think Daniel Porter runs wild and a more seasoned reserve QB Steven Ensminger has something to prove.

With the advantage of an experienced DL going to the White Team, Daniel Porter and the Red Team will have extreme difficulty running the ball. Also, having Ross Jenkins at the helm for the White Team will give them that veteran edge in the pocket. Seeing what Randy Hardin can do for the Red Team should answer any questions about depth at QB for the Bulldogs going into next season.

Ross Jenkins led his team to a come-from-behind win in his first spring game. He won't need to this year. Jenkins has a couple of targets who have enjoyed good springs in Houston Tuminello and R.P. Stuart. And the White defense should be strong enough with D'Anthony Smith and Kwame Jordan.

The White Team wins because they have the best support staff in the business, including grounds man Jeff Cooper, who has a knack for turning mole hills into quality field turf. No one can wet a field like Jeffery. Bradley Choate - is there a better equipment man and Linda Lewis is without par. Kyle Roberts gets my vote as the media relations guy most likely to act like Kyle Roberts. The White Team has a Hagi, a Fasullo, a Palmore, a Drummett and a Greathouse to put them all in. This team also has the edge in guest coaches with Nick White, namesake of the team, carrying more weight than the stringy Sean Fox, who tends to blow away in a good wind.

Somewhere, Vince Lombardi is squirming, realizing that Sean Fox and Nick White will be calling plays Saturday. This game just might end in a tie, given those circumstances. But since a prediction has to be made, I have to go with the White Team, 30-21. It won't be because of the coaching, but because of Ross Jenkins at quarterback. He's 2-0 in spring games.

This one looks like Daniel Porter vs. Ross Jenkins and Tech's run stoppers, which would seem to give the White Team a 2-1 edge. But Porter and the Red Team have Sean Fox as their celebrity coach. Have you ever watched Fox during a Tech or Saints game? He's a little more fiery than the White Team's knowledgeable but laid-back celebrity coach Nick White, and I think Fox's natural adrenaline overload pumps up Porter and the Red Team enough to take the surprise win.

There are many positions on the football field, but I'll take a QB that has won a Bowl Game and is 2-0 in the Spring Game any day of the week. Plus I like Nick White's X's and O's over Sean Fox's. I'm also looking for Dominique Faust to have an impact on a special team's play that will result in either field position or a score. Deon Young an experienced DB will also play a big role in the game. White Team by a late touchdown.

After watching Daniel Porter first hand from the sidelines, as I tried to follow him with my camera, I saw something that is very rare. He's everywhere, and very hard to tackle. I look for Antonio Baker to have a big day, and Porter to manage the game. The Red Team wins by a safety over the White Team.
