OXFORD, Miss. -- Unfriendly weather conditions made for a tough course Monday and Tuesday as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs finished 12th overall at the 2009 Reunion Intercollegiate at the par-72 Reunion Golf and Country Club course.
"The first day was brutal," Tech head coach Jean Hall said. "It was windy and cold, and the course was rough. We you have some of the best golfers in the nation shooting in the upper-70's, you know something's up. The course won on the first day of play. We played better today, and this was the strongest field we've played against all year."
Tech's first two rounds (322 and 319) combined for 641 over the first day before shooting their combined best round of 310 on the final day. Senior Corey Bartlett (80-83-75=238) had Tech's best individual finish at 54th overall while junior Matthew Harvey (82-79-78=239) at 56th overall.
Freshman Cody Santone (83-80-77= 240) finished 58th overall, while freshman Jonathan Bale (78-78-85=241) finished 62nd. Senior Amrith de Soysa (82-82-80=244) rounded out Tech's finishers at 65th overall.
The Bulldogs will now await and work for the 2009 WAC Championships to be played in Las Vegas beginning April 27.
"We have three weeks to get ready for the WAC Championships," Hall said. "We've worked very hard all season long to get to this point."
