BOISE, Idaho - Rachel King's goal in the 56th minute led the Louisiana Tech soccer team to a 1-0 win at Boise State on Sunday.

It was the first-ever Western Athletic Conference road win for the Lady Techsters who improved to 12-4 overall and 2-2 in the WAC. The Broncos, last year's conference tournament champions, fell to 5-8-1 (2-1, WAC).

"It must have taken us an hour before we left the field," said head coach Kevin Sherry. "We were dancing, hugging, laughing and taking pictures. We've had our shares of conference losses in the past, so when we get a win like this on the road and against a top team like Boise State, it's worth celebrating."

King took just two shots on goal, but her shot early in the second period from 12 yards out found the left side of the goal. It was her 12th of the season, tying her own school record for most goals in a season.

"After halftime we seemed to kick on and get stronger and stronger," Sherry said. "We dominated the second half and deserved the goal and the win."

Tech received outstanding defensive play as BSU had outscored its previous two WAC opponents 10-0. Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Updyke recorded five saves for her fifth shutout of the season.

Tech took 13 shots in the game, eight on goal. Freshman Brittany Harbough led the Lady Techsters in shots-on-goal with three. BSU took 16 shots, the most shots allowed by a Tech opponent all season.

"They (BSU) didn't really have a good shot on goal," Sherry said of BSU who officially had five shots-on-goal. "Our back line was amazing, absolutely amazing. I love this team and I'm so proud of them."

Now with two conference wins, the most ever in a season for Louisiana Tech, the Lady Techsters look to continue their winning ways on Friday at home against San Jose State at 4 p.m.
