GRAMBLING, La. - The Louisiana Tech volleyball team made quick work of Grambling State Saturday afternoon (25-10, 25-18, 25-18) at the Memorial Gymnasium to improve their record to 20-1 all-time against the Lady Tigers.
Seniors Taylor Fritz and Jennifer Goodwin both had seven kills while freshman Clara Vido also added seven. Lori Hunsucker had 14 digs and Bianca Bin added 29 assists en route to the Lady Techsters outhitting Grambling State .286 to .000.
The Lady Techsters totaled seven service aces with Goodwin leading the charge with three and Vido adding two of her own.
Louisiana Tech (10-8) came out firing in the first set taking the first four points of the match. The offensive attack for Tech clicked on all cylinders while the Tech defense held Grambling State to a -.103 attack efficiency in the frame. Grambling State was able to put together a few points but the Lady Techsters were too much for the Lady Tigers to handle as Tech cruised in the first set, 25-10.
Resting a few starters in the second set, Louisiana Tech picked up right where they left off in the first as Tech raced out to a 6-1 lead. However, Grambling State was able to recover and even the score at 11 apiece. With a 20-18 lead in hand, Tech closed out the second set behind a 5-0 scoring run highlighted by a pair of kills by Taylor Fritz and Gabryel Ording.
With a two set lead coming out of the break, Louisiana Tech coasted in the third set to the tune of a 25-18 win after a Clara Vido kill sealed Grambling's fate.
The Lady Techsters return to action Thursday night at 9 p.m. as they travel to California to resume conference play against WAC-foe Fresno State.
