RENO, Nevada - Despite 12 kills and six digs from
Clara Vido, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team was upended by Nevada in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-22) Saturday night at the Virginia Street Gym.
The Tech offense hit .187 in the match while Vido had a team-high 12 kills with Kassia Pinto adding nine.
The Lady Techsters got off to a quick start in the first set, racing out to a 4-2 lead behind kills from Pinto and Taylor Fritz. However, the Wolf Pack stormed back to take a 11-8 lead over the Techsters. Tech was unable to recover offensively in the frame as Nevada took a 25-20 win in the set.
Nevada carried their first set momentum into the second frame building an 8-3 lead before Tech tied things up at 10 apiece. With the score knotted, Nevada took five consecutive points and never relinquished the lead, winning the set 25-20.
Returning from the break down two sets, Tech traded points back-and-forth before Tech pulled away to a 21-19 lead. However, Nevada finished the set with a 6-1 scoring run to close out the sweep.
Louisiana Tech (10-14, 0-9) returns home on Thursday night with a non-conference matchup against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 5 p.m.
