BOISE, Idaho - Despite seven-plus kills from Jennifer Goodwin, Kara Jones and Clara Vido, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team was unable to recover from a tough first set loss as Boise State dropped the Techsters in three sets (27-25, 25-12, 25-11) Thursday night at Bronco Gym.
Alisha Young had a match-high 10 kills as Boise State outhit Tech .330 to .115 in the match.
With three unforced errors to start the match, Tech was able to build a 10-6 lead before Boise State rallied to take a 11-10 lead. In total both teams traded leads on six occasions while the score was tied a total of 11 times in the set. Trailing 24-23, Louisiana Tech fought off the set point following a kill from Vido. Trading points to even things at 25 apiece, the Broncos took the final two points of the set to claim a 27-25 win. The Broncos outhit Tech .244 to .222 in the frame.
Unfortunately Tech was never able to recover from the hotly contested first set as the Boise State defense stifled the Tech offensive attack limiting the Techsters to a .120 and -.077 hitting percentage in the final two sets. The Broncos hit at an impressive .538 clip in the second set and .261 in the third set, cruising to a straight sets win.
The Lady Techsters return to action Saturday night as they travel to Moscow to face the Vandals of Idaho.
