RUSTON--The Louisiana Tech tennis team was unable to pull out their third straight win as they fell 4-0 to Stephen F. Austin at the Lady Techster Tennis Complex Wednesday.

Louisiana Tech started the day off on the right foot by picking up a doubles win with the number one position team of freshman Vivian ten Dolle and Maartje de Wit taking their match 8-5 over SFA. Tech's number two team of freshmen Cecile Vichery and Alena Erofeyeva dropped a close one 8-6 and due to injury Louisiana Tech was unable to field a third doubles team causing them to yield the doubles point to SFA.

"I was actually very happy the way we played in doubles," Tech head coach Quintin Yray said. "Last year we lost 8-1 in both doubles matches, so we have definitely improved there. We also played well in the singles pushing 3 of the 5 matches to three sets. I know the girls were all disappointed not to be able to finish the matches."

After winning the four team points needed to win the match, three of the matches were left unfinished to make the final score 4-0 in SFA's favor.

"I thought it was another very good performance by our freshmen," Yray said. "We came very close to taking the doubles point even though we had to default the #3 doubles team due to Rocio Juarez being out. Nevertheless the girls fought some good battles, but just weren't able to come out with the win."

Louisiana Tech will return to the courts Saturday to host Grambling State at 10 a.m. CT at the Lady Techster Tennis Complex.
