BOISE, Idaho--Louisiana Tech's Rocio Juarez was able to finish her Tech career with an individual match win over Idaho while as a team the Techsters dropped their final three conference matches to Fresno State, Utah State and Idaho.
"I was glad Rocio came away with a win to end her career," Tech head coach Quintin Yray said. "The girls gave it their best but unfortunately they came up short in their matches. There were some bright spots, but in the end as I said we came up short."
The Techsters played all three matches in Boise, Idaho and started the weekend with a hard fought 4-0 loss to Fresno State. Tech continued to show their heart on Saturday vs. Utah State, but still fell to the Aggies 5-2. Freshman Vivian ten Dolle picked up the lone singles win in the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) win in the number one position. Teamed up with Laura Rodriguez for doubles, ten Dolle was able to gather another win along with the doubles team of Alena Erofeyeva and Maartje de Wit to earn Tech another point vs. Utah State.
The following day the Techsters faced a tough Idaho team and dropped the final match of the season 6-1. Juarez earned Louisiana Tech's point with a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) win over Idaho's Natalie Kirch to finish out her Tech career with a victory.
"We have work to do and we know it," Yray said. "We are a young team and we will improve. I just want the girls to know I'm not disappointed with how the season went. We have improved and that is important. The team will have some things to work on for next year as I said, but we will start as soon as we get back."
