DENVER - The Louisiana Tech volleyball team landed seven student-athletes on the 2010 academic all-WAC volleyball team as announced by the conference office Friday afternoon.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
Kaylon Alexander, Taylor Fritz, Jennifer Goodwin, Lori Hunsucker, Gabryel Ording, Kassia Pinto and Mallory Stanley were all recipients of this award for their achievements both on the court and inside the classroom.
Since Matt Sonnichsen has taken over the reigns as the head coach at Louisiana Tech, 21 Techsters have been named academic all-WAC over a three year period. In the prior seven seasons before Sonnichsen, only 20 received such honors.
Senior Taylor Fritz became only the second Techster to receive academic all-WAC accolades in each of her four years at Tech, joining Shannon Phillips. Kaylon Alexander and Mallory Stanley are both three-time recipients while Lori Hunsucker and Kassia Pinto have been cited with all-WAC academic honors on two occasions. This marks the first such honor for Gabryel Ording.
