RUSTON - Louisiana Tech shutout Grambling State 7-0 Wednesday in women's tennis at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex.
The Lady Techsters (5-4) lost a total of six games in singles and one game in doubles. The Lady Tigers were playing with just five players and therefore, Tech won its No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles matches by default.
Vivian ten Dolle (No. 2 singles), Melanie Urvoy (No. 3 singles) and Alena Erofeyeva (No. 5 singles) each won 6-0, 6-0.
Tech's Elne Barnard defeated Kassim Oluwatumisin 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. In No. 4 singles, Maartje de Wit defeated Alisha Nichols 6-2, 6-1.
Barnard and Anna Zurek paired up in No. 1 doubles and defeated Oluwatumisin and Charmine Wetherill 8-1 while ten Dolle and de Wit defeated Nichols and Nandi Brown 8-0 in No. 2 doubles.
Louisiana Tech will next be in action on March 27 as it hosts Nicholls State at 10 a.m. in Ruston. Tech's match with Jackson State that was supposed to be on March 22, will be played on April 6 at 3 p.m.
