Bulldogs Add Michale Kyser for 2011-12 Season

April 29, 2011

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech men's basketball coach Michael White and his staff announced the signing of 6-9, 200-pound forward Michale Kyser to a national letter of intent on Friday.

A native of Lancaster, Texas, Kyser is currently attending prep school at Christian Life Center Academy outside of Houston, Texas in Humble. There he averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks while helping his team to a 21-3 record.

"Michale is a 6-9, long, lean, athletic runner and jumper," White said. "He's a very good shot blocker with big upside offensively. He has been coached by two very good teachers in Ferrin Douglas at Lancaster High School in Dallas and Carlos Wilson at Christian Life Center Academy in Houston."

Prior to his season at Christian Life Center Academy, Kyser completed four years at Lancaster High School. He led his team to the Texas Class 4A State Championship game as a senior, recording 15 points and six rebounds in a loss to Houston Yates.

As a senior, Kyser led Lancaster to a 36-3 record and averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks per game. He was named first team all-District 15-4A. In district play over his final three seasons at Lancaster, Kyser's team posted a record of 29-0.

"Coach White came to me and told me how much he wanted me," Kyser said. "Tech has a lot of history and great forwards like Karl Malone and PJ Brown. It's an honor to follow in their footsteps."

Christian Life Center Academy is the same school that former Bulldog Olu Ashaolu attended.

Kyser, who played on the AAU team Dallas Showtyme, joins guard Alex Carr, from Adamsville, Ala., as signees for the upcoming season.
