RUSTON - Louisiana Tech improved its home tennis record to 8-1 with a 6-1 win over Jackson State on Wednesday at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex.
The Lady Techsters started the day with an 8-3 win by Elne Barnard and Anna Zurek in No. 1 doubles and then an 8-4 win by Vivian ten Dolle and Maartje de Wit in No. 2 doubles. Due to Jackson State only having five players, the Tigers had to default the No. 3 doubles match as well as the No. 6 singles match.
Elne Barnard improved her No. 1 singles record to 8-6 following a 6-1, 6-3 win over Victoria Guedez. Vivian ten Dolle pulled out a tough match against Britney Shy Nelson. The sophomore won 7-6, 7-5 in the No. 2 position to improve to 7-2 on the season.
In No. 3 singles, Maartje de Wit defeated Asha Saravanamohan 6-3, 6-0. Alena Erofeyeva shutout the Tigers' Dominique McCraney 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles.
Sophie Heldoorn played No. 5 singles for Tech and was defeated by JSU's Kesica Jayaoalan in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Louisiana Tech improved to 9-6 on the season and will next compete at UALR on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
