RUSTON, La. - Senior guard Trevor Gaskins was named Co-Player of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Monday after his performance during the week of Feb. 20-26.
Gaskins shared the award with Denzel Erves of Xavier University in New Orleans and Ricky Tarrant of Tulane.
In two games, Gaskins averaged 18.5 points per game on 45.8 percent (11-for-24) shooting from the field including 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) on three-point attempts while going 9-for-10 (90.0 percent) at the free throw line. He grabbed 5.5 rebounds, dished out 4.5 assists and had 1.0 steals per contest.
Against San Jose State on Thursday, Gaskins shot 6-for-9 from the field including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc to score 15 points and grabbed three rebounds off the bench in the Bulldogs 75-49 win.
In the 84-67 victory against Hawaii on Senior Day, he equaled his season-high with 22 points as he went 5-for-15 on field goal attempts, making four three-pointers and shooting 8-for-9 at the charity stripe which are career-bests for attempts and made free throws. Gaskins also set a career-high with eight assists and tied his career-high of eight rebounds against the Rainbow Warriors.
Louisiana Tech travels to face Fresno State Thursday night with the tip set for 10 p.m. CT.
