Bulldogs in Middle of Pack at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas - Louisiana Tech is currently in eighth place after 36 holes of the 16-team Border Olympics hosted by the University of Houston at the Laredo Country Club Friday.

The event will wrap up Saturday with the final round.

Head coach Jeff Parks team shot a two-round team total of 32-over-par as the Bulldogs struggled during the afternoon round - shooting 20-over-par.

Lamar leads the event through two rounds with a team total of 582 followed by Houston (585), Baylor (593), Central Arkansas (600), Iowa State (601), UL-Lafayette (605), Mississippi State (607), LA Tech (608), VCU (609), Rice (609), Southern Miss (611), UTSA (612), Eastern Michigan (612), SFA (616), Texas State (617) and Kansas (625).

Senior Cody Blankenship is the top Tech player in the individual standings as he is tied for 26th with a two-round total of six-over-par 150 followed by Cody Santone (75-76=151, T33rd), Patrick Blunt (77-77=154, T48th), Sam Forgan (76-79=155, T54th) and Travis Wilmore (78-77=155, T54th).

Lamar's MJ Daffue leads the team competition with a two-round total of three-under-par 141.
