LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - Louisiana Tech juniors Dacia Hale and Meghan Knowles earned Western Athletic Conference all-tournament team honors for the performances during the Lady Techsters four games this past week.
Hale, a Hillsboro, Oregon native, batted .333 during the week with three home runs, 11 RBI and four runs scored as she set new Western Athletic Conference Tournament and Louisiana Tech records as well as tying an NCAA Division I single game record.
In Tech's 17-7 win over Fresno State in the first game of the tournament, Hale blasted three home runs, scored four times and recorded 11 RBI, tying the NCAA single game mark. Her three home runs set a Tech and WAC Tournament single game record as well as her 12 total bases.
Knowles, a McKinney, Texas native, batted .500 for the week with six hits in 12 at bats with one double, two home runs and three RBI. The Tech first baseman hit a solo home run against Fresno State in both games between the two programs and recorded a career-high tying three hits in the 17-7 win over the Bulldogs.
Brigham Young captured the tournament title with an 8-3 win over Fresno State in the championship game, earning the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
