RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech volleyball team (3-13, 0-4 WAC) is looking to notch its first conference win at 7 p.m. Saturday night against San Jose State when the Spartans travel to face a hungry Techster squad in the Thomas Assembly Center.

This will mark the 19th meeting between the two WAC foes with the Spartans (6-9, 2-3 WAC) holding the advantage with a 2-16 record all-time in head-to-head matchups. The last match the Techsters took from San Jose State was a four-set contest on Nov. 4, 2010 on Tech's home court.

Head coach Adriano de Souza and the Lady Techsters have made a habit of forcing matches to four sets with three of the team's four conference matches resulting in 3-1 losses.

The latest match resulted in a 3-1 loss for the Techsters as the Aggies of Utah State took the road match, dropping Tech to 0-4 in WAC action going into the match against the Spartans.

Five of the last seven matches the Techsters have played against San Jose State have been decided in three or more sets, two of those matches resulting in wins for Tech, and another two being pushed to five sets, resulting in close losses.

Offensively, Tech is paced by freshman Fenix Calderon and sophomore Maria Coelho, who both recorded double-doubles Thursday against Utah State. The Techsters have seen an increase in blocks as of late with the return of junior Caitlin Germany to the lineup, most recently recording 10.0 against the Aggies.

The match Saturday against the Spartans will conclude a two-game home stand before the team returns to road action next week in San Antonio, Texas to face UTSA.
