Simulating the 2013 Football Season: Part II

July 16, 2013

Part I

LATechSports.com took advantage of the recent release of EA Sports NCAA Football 14 and ran a simulation of the 2013 Louisiana Tech football season. With kickoff at NC State less than two months away, take a look at what the video game's projection of LA Tech's 2013 season will look like.

This is the second of three parts looking at the 2013 season. What do you think of the simulation? Use the Facebook comments section below to give your input on this simulated portion of the season.

Note: This simulation is for entertainment purposes only and is just a computer-generated simulation.

A digital Kenneth Dixon steps up with 94 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Overall UTEP notches 421 yards of offense and goes 5-for-5 in red zone scoring while three different defensive linemen are credited with eight total tackles and combined for eight tackles for a loss.

LA Tech took the lead as a digital Richie Casey caught a 19-yard pass from a digital Ryan Higgins early in the second quarter but that would be the only time the Bulldogs would see the scoreboard.

A digital K. Rhodes for FIU ran for 133 yards on 24 carries and FIU scored twice in the second quarter and added another touchdown in the third quarter as they claimed the win in south Florida.

Holding a slight 17-14 advantage at half it would be the 20 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarter that pushes the Bulldogs over the top.

A digital Ryan Higgins steps into his own, throwing for 395 yards and three touchdowns in a 22-for-36 appearance while a digital Scott Cathcart (10 catches, 174 yards) and a digital Jon Greenwalt (three catches, 120 yards) both notch top performances.

The Bulldog offense is hitting on all cylinders in this big win over Rice, a game that could have a say in the final Conference USA West Division standings. The two teams traded scores throughout the game until LA Tech went on a 24-0 run over the span of 14 minutes in the third and fourth quarters, something the Owls would not recover from.

The quarterback situation became fluid again as a digital Scotty Young returned from his digital injury and split time with a digital Ryan Higgins. DigJi Banks caught 10 passes for 147 yards and a digital Paul Turner came on the scene with four catches for 85 yards.
