RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head football coach Skip Holtz announced the addition of wide receiver Sterling Griffin to the team Monday. Griffin joins the Louisiana Tech Family after graduating from the University of South Florida.

A Miami, Fla. native, Griffin played in 23 games and started in 19 during his career at USF. He caught 59 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns but was plagued by injuries that limited his game action in 2010 and in 2012.

"I am excited that Sterling has decided to join us," head coach Skip Holtz said. "I am excited about what he brings to the table as a person, as a student-athlete who has already received his undergraduate degree and as a football player."

Griffin posted a career-high 109 receiving yards at USF in 2011 as the Bulls faced Pittsburgh. The longest reception of his career came in 2009 against Florida State with a 79-yard catch against the Seminoles.

He adds much needed depth and experience to a wide receiver position that suffered the loss of its top two performers from last year (Quinton Patton, Myles White) to graduation. Griffin received his undergraduate degree from South Florida on Aug. 10.
