HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Despite recording a season-high 21 shots on goal, Louisiana Tech could not find the back of the net and played to a scoreless draw versus Southern Miss on Sunday afternoon.

The tie was the second of the season for LA Tech (10-5-2, 2-4-1 C-USA), the first one coming in the opening match of the year at Central Arkansas.

"We did everything but score," head coach Kevin Sherry said. "In any sport you need a bit of luck, but today the shots were flying one inch outside the post when on another day one of them goes inside.

"Southern Miss was a solid team who was physical. We made some changes at halftime and slowly took control of the game, but were unable to come up with a goal. Physical fitness was an issue for some of the players and the hot conditions did not help."

Kathryn Sloan fired off the first three shots for the Lady Techsters, all coming in the first 11 minutes of the game.

With not much action occurring in the attacking third for either team, Taylor Dennis subbed in and nearly scored in the 36th minute when she shot past the keeper, but Southern Miss (5-8-3, 0-4-3 C-USA) had a defender clear the ball off the line to keep the game scoreless.

After some halftime adjustments, the Techsters found more scoring opportunities yet were unable to convert. The team totaled 13 shots in the second half and 10 shots in the first overtime period.

Brittany Beddow took a career-high 10 shots with a couple just missing. Annabel Prior forced good saves by USM's Brittany Taylor with her five shots on goal.

Taylor ended the match with 21 saves while the Golden Eagles took 13 shots on the day.

Kylee Seto recorded her fourth clean sheet of the season, coming up with a career-high nine saves.

LA Tech begins a three-game home stand to round out the season on Friday, Oct. 24 versus WKU.
