RUSTON, La. - Rice had two players reach double-digit kills, while hitting .398 as a team to help lead the Owls to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-14) victory over Louisiana Tech on Sunday afternoon at Tudor Fieldhouse.

LA Tech (9-19, 1-13 C-USA) struggled to keep up with Rice offensively, as the Lady Techsters hit .136 for the match with 28 kills and 14 errors. Rice (21-7, 11-3 C-USA) on the other hand hit just under .400 with 51 kills to help propel the host Owls to a Conference USA victory over LA Tech.

The Lady Techsters trailed for almost the entire first set, but LA Tech kept it competitive as the team hit .257 with 12 kills, but the Owls' offensive attack was too much to handle after Rice hit an incredible .486 for the game with 21 kills in the first game alone to take a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-18 win.

Rice's level of play never lowered in the second with the Owls posting a .423 attacking mark, 13 kills and just two errors, but it was seven LA Tech errors that helped give Rice a convincing 25-14 win in the set, good for a 2-0 lead heading into the 10 minute break.

With a commanding 2-0 lead in the match, Rice did not let up as the Owls had 17 kills and held LA Tech to seven with a .097 attacking percentage to close out the straight-set victory with a 25-14 win in the third and final game.

As she has done all season, Rebecca Redgen led the Lady Techsters with 11 kills and a .200 hitting percentage to go along with 11 digs for her team-high seventh double-double of the year. In addition to Redgen's performance on the court, Adria Morales and Brooke Short combined for a total of 25 assists for LA Tech, while Morales had five kills in the match as well.

Rice had two players record double-digit kills in the match, led by Leah Mikesky, who recorded a double-double with 16 kills, 11 digs and a .448 hitting percentage, not to mention three blocks for the Owls' attacker. Jillian Humphrey was also impressive for the home team as she totaled 10 kills and a .500 attacking percentage to help lead Rice to a conference victory.

LA Tech will now travel to the Sunshine State for its final two matches of the 2014 season, beginning with a 6 p.m. contest against Florida Atlantic on Friday in Boca Raton. The Lady Techsters will then wrap up the season at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16 when they travel to face FIU in Miami.
