POST-GAME NOTES
- LA Tech captains were Houston Bates, Kenneth Dixon, Hunter Lee and Tony Johnson.
- Attendance for tonight's game: 26,004. It marked the third largest crowd in Joe Aillet Stadium history and the largest crowd since Dec. 13, 1999. The new capacity of the stadium is 27,717.
- Joe Aillet has now hosted 33 games with crowds over 20,000.
- With the 30-27 loss, LA Tech still leads the all-time series over Northwestern State, 53-20-5. This was the first meeting since 1994 which was the old "State Fair" rivalry.
- The loss marked the first for LA Tech against a Southland Conference opponent since Sept. 16, 2000, a 34-31 overtime loss to Stephen F. Austin.
- The Bulldogs had five turnovers on the night - three interceptions and two fumbles. Two of those turnovers came on the final two offensive plays of the game for LA Tech.
- Northwestern State won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
OFFENSE
- Going 2-for-2 in the red zone tonight, the Bulldogs are now a perfect 11-for-11 inside the red zone this season.
- Kenneth Dixon finished the night with 103 rushing yards, marking the 13th time he has recorded a 100-yard rushing game which ties for the all-time school record with Jason Davis (1989-92).
- Kenneth Dixon now has 2,515 career rushing yards, moving him into 9th place all-time in school history.
- Cody Sokol hit Kenneth Dixon on a screen pass. Dixon broke a tackle and sprinted 38 yards up the sideline for the touchdown on the opening drive with 12:18 remaining in the first quarter to put LA Tech up 7-0. That marked the first score for the Bulldogs on the opening drive this season.
- The 38-yard reception by Dixon was the second longest of his career.
- The touchdown pass for Cody Sokol was his 10th on the year. LA Tech had just 10 touchdown passes total in 2013.
- Kenneth Dixon powered it into the end zone from three yards out for a touchdown with 1:04 left in the quarter, giving LA Tech a 20-10 lead.
- Kenneth Dixon had a violent rush of five yards for a touchdown with 8:35 left in the fourth quarter putting LA Tech up 27-17. It was Dixon's 40th overall touchdown, both rushing and passing, and 36th rushing touchdown tying him with Arry Moody for second most all-time.
- With three touchdowns on the night, Kenneth Dixon has now recorded at least three scores in a single game six times in his career.
- Sterling Griffin had a game-high six receptions for 72 yards.
DEFENSE
- The defense ended the night with eight tackles-for-loss, led by Vernon Butler who had 2.5, a new career-high.
- Mitch Villemez, Tony Johnson and Andre Taylor led the defense with seven tackles apiece.
- Nick Thomason, Aaron Brown, Tony Johnson and Vernon Butler were credited with sacks on the night. For Thomason and Brown, it was the first sack of their career.
- Xavier Woods intercepted NSU's Zach Adkins on a third down in the first quarter. That marked Woods' second interception of his career. The previous one was a pick-six at Louisiana-Lafayette.
- With the Demons backed up on their own two-yard line with 10:35 to go in the fourth quarter, Kentrell Brice came up with an interception giving the `Dogs the ball on the 38. It was the first career INT for the Ruston native.
SPECIAL TEAMS
- Jonathan Barnes split the uprights on a 38-yard field goal to give LA Tech a 10-0 lead with 6:29 left in the first quarter. Barnes is now 4-of-5 on the season.
- Barnes hit on his second field goal of the game with just seven seconds remaining in the first half. It was a 44-yarder, the longest of his career.
- Logan McPherson downed the Demons inside the 20 on his lone punt, a 46-yarder in the first quarter.
- Gerald Shouse had the only other punt on the night, a 47-yarder that was downed at the two-yard line. That was his second punt of the season.
