LA Tech vs. OK State box score
STILLWATER, Okla. - No. 19 Oklahoma State proved too much for Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lady Techsters, 7-0, at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
LA Tech (0-2) dropped its first two matches of the 2015 spring season to nationally ranked teams, but head coach Chad Camper is confident this type of competition will pay dividends going forward.
"We played one of the best teams in the nation today," Camper said. "They are well coached and very intense. Some of us learned how to adapt while others struggled. We learned a lot from these first two matches and we look forward to continuing our growth this season."
OK State (2-0) notched victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spot in doubles to take the first point of the match.
The Cowgirls, coming off a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Championships last season, then grabbed straight sets wins at No. 5 and No. 2 in singles before clinching the match at No. 4 as Marta Sramkova was defeated by Karyn Guttormsen, 6-0, 6-4.
The tight match of the day was at No. 1 where Alexandra Starkova battled, but eventually fell 7-6, 7-5 to Kelsey Laurente who was ranked as high as No. 33 in the country last season.
LA Tech returns to the courts on Sunday, Jan. 25 in its home opener against in-state foe Nicholls State. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
