POST-GAME NOTES
- LA Tech captains were Kentrell Brice, Vernon Butler, Kenneth Dixon and Jeff Driskel.
- Today's announced attendance: 16,986.
- With the 56-13 win, LA Tech improved to 7-3 on the season and 5-1 in C-USA play. With Southern Miss being diel this weekend, the Bulldogs now have sole possession of first place in the west division and controls its own destiny for a shot in the C-USA Championship.
- LA Tech now leads the all-time series over North Texas, 8-6.
- Skip Holtz picked up win No. 108 as a head coach. It also marked his 20th win as head coach of the Bulldogs.
- LA Tech improved its home winning streak to nine. It is the longest since the Bulldogs won 18 straight from Oct. 14, 1989 -- Oct. 30, 1993.
- During the home winning streak, the average margin of victory is 34.6 points with seven of the nine victories being by at least 29 points.
- The 56 points scored is the second most this season, second only to the season opener versus Southern when the Bulldogs scored 62. It was also the most points scored by either LA Tech or North Texas in the series.
- The Bulldogs have now scored at least 55 points four times in a Conference USA game.
- LA Tech outscored North Texas, 28-0, in the first half. The Bulldogs have now outscored their opponents, 257-112, in the first half this season.
- LA Tech outscored North Texas, 7-0, in the second quarter. The Bulldogs have now outscored their opponents, 146-46, in the second quarter this season.
- LA Tech is now 66-22-2 all-time in homecoming games. The Bulldogs have won eight of the last nine homecoming games.
- North Texas won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half. LA Tech opened the game on offense.
OFFENSE
- LA Tech was a perfect 6-of-6 scoring in the red zone. They are now 39-of-45 this season.
- The LA Tech offense racked up 573 total yards. That is the third most this season by the Bulldogs.
- The LA Tech offense has now piled up 400+ total yards in all 10 games this season, continuing the school record for most consecutive games to start a season.
- For the season, the offense has totaled 4,877 yards for an average of 487.7 yards per game, the third highest average through 10 games in school history behind only the 2012 and 1998 teams.
- During the nine-game home winning streak, the Bulldogs are averaging 50.0 points per game.
- The 274 rushing yards is the most by the Bulldogs since Nov. 9, 2013 when they rushed for 311 yards in a home win over Southern Miss.
- The Bulldogs have now rushed for 200+ yards four times this season, tying the same number of times they did it last season.
- LA Tech scored 21 points in the first quarter. It marked the fifth time this season the Bulldogs have scored 20+ points a quarter.
- Jeff Driskel threw for 296 yards, giving him 3,032 passing yards in just 10 games played this season. He now ranks 10th in school history for most passing yards in a single season, passing Terry Bradshaw (1968).
- Jeff Driskel has now thrown for 290+ yards in six straight games.
- Carlos Henderson had five receptions for a career-high 162 yards. It marks his second straight game of at least 100 yards receiving and the fourth of his career.
- The 162 receiving yards was the most by a LA Tech wide receiver since Quinton Patton vs. Utah State on Nov. 17, 2012.
- Carlos Henderson pulled in a 54-yard completion late in the first quarter. It was his second longest reception of the season. In the third quarter, he also reeled in a 52-yard reception.
- Trent Taylor finished the day with three receptions, bringing his season total to 75 which is just two shy of cracking the top 10 list in school history.
- Trent Taylor now has 167 career receptions, the ninth most in school history.
- Marcus Gaines fumbled after a reception on the Bulldogs opening drive. It was the first turnover for the team since Oct. 17 at Mississippi State.
- Blake Martin rushed five times for 18 yards and a touchdown. It marked his first touchdown of the season and the fourth of his career.
Kenneth Dixon NOTES
- Kenneth Dixon was unstoppable, running the ball 22 times for 195 yards and six touchdowns to go along with three receptions for 32 yards.
- The six touchdowns tied his own program record for most in a single game. It also set a new Conference USA record and is the most by any FBS player this season.
- Kenneth Dixon now has 70 career rushing touchdowns, the fifth most in NCAA history.
- Kenneth Dixon now has 81 career overall touchdowns, the second most in NCAA history and just two shy of tying the record held by Montee Ball of Wisconsin (2009-12).
- Kenneth Dixon now has 476 career points which is the second most in NCAA history for a non-kicker behind only Montee Ball of Wisconsin (2009-12).
- Kenneth Dixon has scored a touchdown in 36 games in his career, two shy of tying the NCAA record held by three different players.
- Kenneth Dixon has scored at least two touchdowns in 22 games in his career, tying for the third most in NCAA history with Ricky Williams of Texas (1995-98).
- Kenneth Dixon has scored at least three touchdowns in 13 games in his career, one shy of tying the NCAA record held by Keenan Reynolds of Navy (2012-present).
- Kenneth Dixon rushed for at least 100 yards for the 21st time in his career.
- Kenneth Dixon had a 40-yard rushing touchdown, marking the 14th time he has registered a touchdown of 30+ yards. All of them have come in the past two seasons.
- Kenneth Dixon broke off a 55-yard rush in the first quarter. It was the third longest rush of the season for the senior.
SCORING PLAY NOTES
- Kenneth Dixon powered it into the end zone from one-yard out for a touchdown, giving LA Tech a 7-0 lead with 8:01 to go in the first quarter.
- Kenneth Dixon took a draw and rushed it in for a seven-yard touchdown, giving LA Tech a 21-0 lead with 3:01 remaining in the first quarter.
- Kenneth Dixon took a handoff from the T-bone formation and scored on a one-yard rush, giving LA Tech a 28-0 lead with 2:25 to go in the second quarter.
- Kenneth Dixon took a delayed handoff and went 40 yards for a touchdown, giving LA Tech a 35-0 lead with 8:57 left in the third quarter.
- Kenneth Dixon scored on a 14-yard rush, giving LA Tech a 42-0 lead with 4:53 left in the third quarter.
- Kenneth Dixon scored from three yards out to give LA Tech a 49-0 edge with 13:41 to go in the fourth quarter.
- Blake Martin powered in for a one-yard touchdown rush to give LA Tech a 56-13 lead with 3:34 left in the game.
DEFENSE
- During the nine-game home winning streak, the defense is only allowing 15.4 points per game, having only allowed more than 20 points once.
- With North Texas scoring 13 points, LA Tech has now allowed less than 17 points in seven games this season, including the last four.
- LA Tech held North Texas to just 82 rushing yards, the sixth time this season they have not allowed an opponent to rush for more than 100.
- LA Tech totaled 10 tackles for loss, including a game-high 2.5 from redshirt freshman Jaylon Ferguson.
- LA Tech held North Texas scoreless in the first half. It marked the first time this season the Bulldogs have held an opponent scoreless in a half. It is the first time since Nov. 1, 2014 when they shutout WKU in the second half.
- The Bulldogs recovered three fumbles, a first since at Marshall on Dec. 6, 2014 in the C-USA Championship game.
- LA Tech totaled four forced fumbles -- two by Xavier Woods and one each by Jaylon Ferguson and Vontarrius Dora.
- Russell Farris made the start at linebacker in place of injured Nick Thomason. It was the sophomore's second career start.
- Vontarrius recorded the first sack of the game for the Bulldogs for a loss of six yards on the Mean Green's opening drive of the second half. It was Dora's fourth sack of the season, bringing his career total to 11.5.
- Kentrell Brice intercepted a pass in the end zone on North Texas' first trip inside the red zone. It marked his first interception of the season and the third of his career. It is also the ninth interception by the Bulldogs this season.
- True freshman Jordan Bradford recorded a sack late in the fourth quarter, the first of his career.
- Beau Fitte led the Bulldogs with eight tackles.
SPECIAL TEAMS
- A bad snap by North Texas on a punt turned into a scoop and score for 26 yards by Bryson Abraham, giving LA Tech a 14-0 lead with 4:18 left in the first quarter. It is the senior's fourth touchdown of the season. He also has three interceptions returned for a touchdown.
- It marked the first time LA Tech returned a fumble for a touchdown since Beau Fitte vs. Rice on Nov. 29, 2014.
- Jonathan Barnes missed on his only field goal attempt of the game, a 40-yard attempt early in the second quarter. It was only his fourth miss of the season (16-of-20).
- Jonathan Barnes continued to stay perfect this season on extra point attempts as he went 8-8 and is now 50-50 on the year. The 50 attempts and 50 makes are both the second most in school history in a single season.
- Jonathan Barnes now has 89 career made extra point attempts, the seventh most in school history. His 92 career extra point attempts also ranks seventh in school history.
- Carlos Henderson had one kickoff return go for 27 yards.
- Boston Scott had two kickoff returns, including one in the fourth quarter that went for 89 yards. It was the longest return by any Bulldog this season and was the longest of Scott's career since he came into the game with zero career kickoff returns.
- Gerald Shouse only had one punt on the day and it went for 46 yards.
