RUSTON – Following one of the most dominant season-opening wins in program history, Louisiana Tech is set for their first real test of the 2026 season, hitting the road for Baton Rouge to take on the No. 8 LSU Tigers at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, September 12. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network+.

The Bulldogs (1-0) were one of five FBS programs to score at least 70 points in Week 1, as well as posting the second-highest team passing efficiency rating in the country at 280.29, trailing only Indiana (285.03).
Several players saw their first scores in a Bulldog uniform in Saturday's win over Northwestern State, including Dedrick Latulas, who became the first Bulldog since Paul Turner in 2015 to register a punt return for a touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same game. The fourth-year receiver and return specialist was named Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts, ending with 107 all-purpose yards.
Jalen Mickens' 164 all-purpose yards led LA Tech along with 133 receiving yards to become the first 100-yard receiver for the Bulldogs this season and the third since the start of the 2025 season. He scored on Tech's first offensive play of the season—a 75-yard touchdown catch-and-run for his second career receiving score.
Transfer additions Sergio Snider, Jaden Miller, Talyn Shettron and Joshua Brantley saw their first touchdowns as Bulldogs, along with the first collegiate scores for Latulas, Brantley, Luke Watkins and Dylone Brooks.
Among the 22 offensive and defensive starters for Louisiana Tech, seven made their first start as a Bulldog with just four having 10 starts or more in their careers in Ruston. Eli Finley has the most career starts among current players with 27 followed with 25 starts by Hayden Christman, 17 by Kolbe Fields and 14 by Ashanti Cole.
The Bulldogs will enter much more hostile territory on Saturday, matching up with the Tigers (1-0), who began the Lane Kiffin era by knocking off Clemson in their season opener, 51-10, at Tiger Stadium on September 5. The win moved LSU into the top 10 of the AP Top 25 this week, jumping three spots from their preseason No. 11 ranking.
Saturday also marks the first time LSU and Tech will play in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 1940 and 1941 seasons and just the third time ever since 1929 and 1930. In their 2025 matchup, the 23 points allowed were the least that Tech has given up to the Tigers since a 20-2 loss in 1913.
Kiffin is 1-1 when coaching against the Bulldogs, with both games being played during his tenure as the head coach at Florida Atlantic. Louisiana Tech's last win against LSU dates back to 1904 with a 6-0 win in Ruston.
