LUBBOCK, Texas - After being unable to play a match in almost a month, Louisiana Tech made its longest trek of the season to face No. 19 Texas Tech.

After putting up a strong fight, especially at the top of the singles lineup, the Lady Techsters fell, 6-1, to the Red Raiders on Saturday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center.

"I feel like we played pretty well," head coach Chad Camper said. "We stayed competitive and played with a lot of heart. It was a good match to get ready for the rest of the season."

LA Tech (1-7) was taking on its fourth ranked opponent of the spring which also had two ranked singles players, but the Techsters were not intimidated.

Texas Tech (10-3) took the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No.3 and then clinched the match in singles with straight set victories at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.

The rest of the matches were played out with LA Tech showing plenty of heart against top competition.

Alexandra Starkova suffered a 6-2, 6-4 defeat to Kenna Kiglo at No. 1. Meanwhile at No. 3, Marta Sramkova was up 5-2 in the super tiebreaker after she split sets with No. 50-ranked Lynn Kiro, but the Red Raider battled back to take the win.

The lone point for the Techsters came from Jazmin Britos at No. 2 where she took down No. 65-ranked Sarah Dvorak, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4). It was the second nationally ranked player Britos has bested this spring.

LA Tech returns to action on Wednesday, March 18 with a home doubleheader against Texas State and ASA Junior College.
