RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech kicks off the golf season Monday as the Bulldogs open play in the 15-field Sam Hall Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The 72-hole, three-round tournament at Hattiesburg Country Club starts with a shotgun start Monday at 8:30 a.m. as the teams will play two rounds, followed by a single round on Tuesday that begins with tee times starting at 8 a.m.

The tournament field is highlighted by two NCAA Regional teams ranked in the top 55 from last season in Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese State among a field that also includes Arkansas State, South Alabama, UALR, Sam Houston State, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe and Jackson State along with Conference USA foes Middle Tennessee, Rice, UTSA and host Southern Miss.

Last season the Bulldogs finished ninth in the 15-team field at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate after carding 8-over-par (294-282-284=860) as a team at the par-71, 6,6902-yard course. Chuck Spears led the Bulldogs as he finished tied for 20th at 1-over-par (72-71-71=214) while Victor Lange tied for 28th after carding a 2-over-par tournament (72-71-72=215).

Spears and Lange will return to Hattiesburg to represent Louisiana Tech in this year's tournament and they will be joined by John Lewis Sams, Ben Robinson, Hunter Glenn and Mitchell Haddox. Sams (5-over-par, T-43rd) and Robinson (5-over-par, T-43rd) both competed for the Bulldogs while Haddox and Glenn will be making the trip to Hattiesburg for the first time.
