On responding from poor practice on Saturday:
"That is the thing about these young ladies and this team, they will respond. The next step is the consistency to where we do not have to do drastic things like taking Brandi [Wingate] or Tiara [Davenport] out of the starting lineup or kicking them out of practice. You see the results. We took care of the ball. We only turned it over nine times, because yesterday we were running double suicides and stadiums for them. Brandi Wingate is still responding from the last time we took her out of the lineup. Our team as a whole responded. Again, I am proud of them for it, but the next step is that consistency."
On defense:
"That was our game plan, to take [Caitlin Jenkins] away. I think we did a good job of that. I have to say that Reauna Cleaver is the competitor of the game for us. She got it because of the defensive job that she did on Caitlin Jenkins. That was our freshman post against their freshman post and I am very proud of Sweets for her effort."
On rebounding:
"That was another message. The overall message was effort which includes transition offense, which I thought we did a good job on. We could have done a little better job with transition defense. We rebounded on both ends and I was proud of our team for what we did. They were sick of hearing it. We heard it all week: We get out rebounded by 21, that Caitlin Jenkins dominated us and they were sick of it. You even gave them a little extra motivation Malcolm with the sheets you printed out. Just so you know those sheets are ripped up in the locker room. I think it worked."
On slow start:
"I am disappointed in our press break. I know we only turned it over nine times, but you see at times what we can do against the press, which is get very open shots. We have to be able to do that every time. It does not mean that we are going to score every time, but we have to be able to push it and go every time. I thought we were on our heels for the first five minutes of the game. We have to start a little stronger."
On road trip:
"It is very tough to go on the road, especially to [UTSA and UTEP]. We have our work cut out for us. We are going to take tomorrow off. I think they have earned a day off and then practice on Tuesday, with a quick practice on Wednesday. We have to handle our business on the road. You are always trying to win both games on the road. If you can at least split then that is fine as well. Again, we have to go into that ready to battle. You have to bring a little something extra on the road. To have that cushion and be 4-2 in conference is great. Now we cannot let up, we have to keep trying to improve."
