POST-GAME NOTES

- Louisiana Tech captains were Ryan Higgins, Trent Taylor, Lloyd Grogan and Xavier Woods.

- Announced attendance: 13,311.

- With the 56-28 victory, LA Tech won its third straight to improve to 4-3 on the season.

- LA Tech now leads the all-time series versus UMass, 1-0, after being victorious in the first ever meeting.

- This marked the Bulldogs first road win of the season. They were previously 0-3 on the year away from home.

- Skip Holtz now has 26 total wins as head coach of the Bulldogs.

- UMass won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half, giving LA Tech the football to open the game.

OFFENSE

- The Bulldog offense racked up 690 yards, the fifth most in program history. It marks the third time this season LA Tech has registered over 600 yards of offense. It is also the fifth time in the last six games they have gone over 500 yards.

- The LA Tech offense scored on its opening drive (touchdown), marking the seventh straight game they have done so.

- Ryan Higgins finished the day 26-of-33 passing for 484 yards and a career-tying five touchdowns (threw five touchdowns in the previous game versus WKU). The redshirt senior went 203 straight passes without throwing an interception which came in the third quarter.

- For the season, Ryan Higgins is up to 2,353 passing yards on the season with 22 touchdowns and only three interceptions.

- Ryan Higgins has eclipsed 400 passing yards for the fourth time this season and of his career. That ranks fourth in program history.

- Carlos Henderson outdid his career night in the last game against WKU, racking up 12 receptions for 326 yards and five touchdowns.

- The 326 receiving yards by Carlos Henderson are the second most in program history behind only Troy Edwards' NCAA-record 405 in 1998 and are the most in a single game by an FBS player since Jeremy Gallon's 369 in 2013.

- Carlos Henderson became only the third player in the last 10 years with 200+ receiving yards and 3+ receiving touchdowns in back-to-back games (Davante Adams, Michael Crabtree).

- Carlos Henderson became the third Bulldog in school history to record 300+ receiving yards. He also became the third player to register back-to-back games with 200+ receiving yards.

- The five touchdown grabs by Carlos Henderson tied a program record (most since Troy Edwards in 1998). He now leads the team with 10 receiving touchdowns this season which is tied for the seventh most in program history (previous career high was five last season). He is the first Bulldog since Quinton Patton in 2012 to have double-digit receiving TDs.

- Carlos Henderson has 100+ yards receiving for the seventh time in his career, tied for seventh most in program history.

- Trent Taylor finished the day with nine receptions for 126 yards (34th straight game with a catch). He now has 266 career receptions which puts him in second for the most in school history (needs 15 more to set record). It also ranks tied for ninth in C-USA history.

- Trent Taylor registered 100+ receiving yards for the 15th time in his career, tied for the second most in program history. His career total is up to 3,363 receiving yards which now ranks eighth most in C-USA history.

- Boston Scott saw action in the fourth quarter and did not disappoint with seven rushing attempts for a game-high 97 yards and one touchdown (second career score). The bulk of that came on a 71-yard rush.

- Jarred Craft put together another solid performance with 16 rushes for 93 yards to go along with three catches for 25 yards. It marks the sixth straight game the junior has registered 100+ all-purpose yards.

- Kam McKnight had one rushing attempt, but it resulted in his fifth rushing score of the season which leads the team.

OFFENSIVE SCORING PLAYS

- Ryan Higgins hit Carlos Henderson on a screen and the redshirt junior took it 50 yards for the touchdown, giving the Bulldogs an early 7-0 lead with 13:45 left in the first quarter.

- Ryan Higgins found Carlos Henderson in stride who broke multiple tackles and found the end zone on a 42-yard touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 14-7 lead with 6:21 left in the second quarter.

- Kam McKnight took a handoff out of the T-Bone formation and got to the corner for a touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 21-7 advantage with 1:54 remaining in the first half.

- Carlos Henderson pulled in a 5-yard receiving touchdown with five seconds to go in the first half, giving the Bulldogs a 28-14 edge.

- Carlos Henderson won a one-on-one battle on a deep pass from Ryan Higgins and took it 83 yards for the touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 35-21 advantage with 11:19 to go in the third quarter.

- For the fifth and final time, Ryan Higgins connected with Carlos Henderson which resulted in a 6-yard touchdown pass, giving the Bulldogs a 49-21 lead with 10:36 left in the fourth quarter.

- Boston Scott outran everyone for a 71-yard rushing touchdown, giving LA Tech its largest lead of the game at 56-21 with 6:20 remaining in the game.

DEFENSE

- The LA Tech produced an interception and a fumble, the third straight game with forcing multiple turnovers (fourth time this season).

- The Bulldog defense recorded a season-high seven sacks.

- Xavier Woods picked off UMass' quarterback in the third quarter, his 12th career interception which ranks sixth in school history.

- Jordan Harris led the way for the Bulldogs with 10 tackles, including his first career sack as a Bulldog which came on UMass' first offensive drive of the game.

- Lloyd Grogan and Brandon Durman each recorded eight tackles on the day, one shy of a career high for Grogan and tying a career high for Durman. Durman also registered his first career sack midway through the third quarter, resulting in a 6-yard loss.

- Jaylon Ferguson registered 2.5 sacks, a career high for the redshirt sophomore. It marked the fourth time in his early career he has had multiple sacks in a single game. He now has a team-high 5.5 for the season and 11.5 for his career (one more and he will crack the top 10 for career sacks).

- DaMarrion King came up with a sack on a blitz with the Minutemen in their red zone attempting to convert a third down. It was his first career sack.

- Elliott Blankenship recorded a sack on a blitz, a 7-yard loss on third down for the Minutemen early in the fourth quarter. It was his first career sack.

DEFENSIVE SCORING PLAYS

- Jaylon Ferguson had a sack fumble early in the third quarter which allowed Russell Farris to scoop up the football and run it in for 19 yards and the touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 42-21 lead with 11:08 left in the third quarter. It was the first defensive touchdown of the season for the Bulldogs and the first since Nov. 7, 2015 versus North Texas.

SPECIAL TEAMS

- Jonathan Barnes connected on all eight of his extra-point attempts. He has now made 102 straight PATs, increasing his program-best make percentage to 136-of-139 (97.8%).

- Jonathan Barnes now ranks third in program history in career extra points made with 136.

- Jonathan Barnes now ranks fourth in school history in career scoring for kickers with 268.

- Gerald Shouse had two punts on the day, totaling 87 yards with a long of 44.

- Trent Taylor returned three punts for 22 total yards.
