RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech continued Conference USA play on Sunday afternoon in the Thomas Assembly Center, falling to North Texas 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-21).
Alejandra "Lala" Aviles nearly made history, but history will have to wait a few more days as she now sits just three digs away from surpassing the Louisiana Tech record of 1,477 digs in a career. Angie Papach recorded a team-high ten kills in the match. Madeline Davis registered eight kills to go along with an impressive .727 attacking percentage. Brooke Short joined in on the attack with 35 assists.
North Texas did not have a single player record double-digit kills as they spread the attack across all fronts. Bryn Caitlin Walker and Emma Eakin had the team-high in kills with eight. Karley York has 29 assists for the Mean Green.
Louisiana Tech held a 22-20 lead in the first set, but was not able to hold off an aggressive North Texas attack, as the Mean Green took the set 25-23. In the second set, Louisiana Tech held a 20-18 lead, but once again the Mean Green rallied to take the set 25-22. In the final set of the match, the set stood tied at 13-13, but North Texas would win six of the next seven points and go on to win the set 25-21.
Louisiana Tech is back in action on Tuesday, hosting in-state foe UL-Monroe at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center.
