Volleyball Set for Florida Road Swing

Oct. 20, 2016

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech volleyball continues conference play this weekend with a two-game road swing in the Sunshine State, taking on Florida Atlantic at 6 p.m. on Friday and FIU at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

LA Tech faces a tall task opening up the road trip with an FAU team that currently sits at 5-1 in Conference USA play, with their only loss coming to nationally ranked WKU, 3-1. The Owls are led by Maja Ristic who has 276 kills this season.

On Sunday, LA Tech will take a one-hour drive South from Boca Raton, for a match with FIU. FIU is 7-14 overall and 1-6 in C-USA play. The Golden Panthers lone conference win came against UAB in straight sets at home. Katie Hogan leads FIU with 221 kills on the year.

LA Tech's Angela Papach is set to break the 300-kill mark for the season this weekend, as she currently sits at 282. In C-USA only matches, Jacie McClure ranks top-five in the conference in digs a set, while Brooke Short ranks top-five in assists for the season.

"Our team has improved in several aspects of the game, but the key for better performances in these next matches is going to be how our setters play," head coach Adriano de Souza said. "Our setting distribution, defense in zone one and blocking at zone two will determine much of our success."

The games will be broadcast live on CUSA.TV and in-game updates will be available by following @LATechVB on Twitter.
