Final Stats

RUSTON, La. - On Sunday afternoon in Miami, Florida, the Lady Techsters went toe-to-toe with FIU (8-15, 2-7 C-USA), but came up short, falling to the Panthers, 3-1 (25-15, 25-21, 19-25, 25-17).

LA Tech (10-15, 1-8 C-USA) was led by Marta Monne who recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs in the match, while Angela Papach registered a team-high 18 kills. Jacie McClure's 20 digs were a game-high for the Lady Techsters. Hannah Wright also pitched in on the defensive effort with four blocks. Brooke Short provided 35 assists in the contest as well.

FIU was led by Katie Hogan who recorded a career-high and game-high 24 kills.

After FIU controlled the majority of the first set, the Lady Techsters battled back in the second set and looked to bring the match to all-square at one. After holding a 20-19 lead, FIU would score six of the next seven points to win the set and go ahead in the match 2-0.

LA Tech wouldn't go down without a fight though, controlling the third set for the majority of its duration. The Lady Techsters led 16-15 in the match and pulled ahead for good in the set with a kill from Papach and an ace for Wright, which was followed by three consecutive miscues by the Panthers. Louisiana Tech would go on to win the third set 25-16.

In the final set, the two teams traded points early, but FIU was able to gain a five point advantage, up 17-12. The closest the Lady Techsters would get again is 21-17 and the Panthers went on to close out the match with a 25-17 victory in the fourth set.

Louisiana Tech will be back in action with a two-game home stand this weekend, taking on UTEP on Friday night at the Thomas Assembly Center and UTSA on Sunday afternoon.
